Tim was born in Lima, Ohio and raised in Lima, Cleveland, and Cincinnati, Ohio. After graduation from Lima Senior High School, he attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio where he met his wife, Linda. Graduating with a Bachelor of Music Education degree, he taught for seven years before starting his own music teaching studio in the little town of Glouster, Ohio. This eventually evolved into a full line music store (still in Glouster). In 1990, the operation moved to the mall in Athens, Ohio. During these years, he learned piano tuning and repair, electronics troubleshooting and repair, database programming, and design and installation of sound systems. Being a small business in Appalachia required the wearing of several “hats”. Sound systems were designed and installed for a number of schools, universities, churches and businesses.
During these years, Tim was involved in church leadership roles, playing keyboards for gospel groups, and building a praise team for one of the churches he attended. These churches represented a variety of “flavors”. One church was a (instrumental) Church of Christ where he spent many years and made many good friends. The next church was a small, independent charismatic church in Nelsonville, Ohio, where he again made many friends and helped to build a praise and worship team, as well as create musical arrangements for it. Having keyboard, guitar, bass, drums and a small horn section was an exciting and rewarding experience. Our most recent church experience in Ohio was with a Church of God in Athens, Ohio where Tim was again involved with the praise and worship team.
In 2011, economic conditions forced the closure of Tim's business, “Studio E Music”, in Athens, Ohio; and as he sought employment, Showtime Music in Beckley, WV, decided that they could use him as a keyboard manager at their store. He remained employed there until his retirement.
After moving to Beckley, Tim and Linda joined a Church of Christ in the Grandview area near Beckley, where Tim was once again involved with the praise team. While still working at Showtime Music, a small Baptist Church in Cool Ridge, WV contacted Tim, requesting that he assist them in building a praise team at their church. Since Tim's passion has always revolved around church music, he was happy to get involved. Tim and Linda still attend there.
During these years, Tim immersed himself in Bible studies from Watchman Nee, Charles Stanley, Hugh Ross, and other authors. These studies, along with his numerous church affiliations, as well as some personal experiences have provided Tim with a variety of viewpoints regarding God and theology. In recent years, since retirement, Tim has found these influences congealing into some unique perspectives regarding God, man, the church, and the relationships between them. His new (and first) book provides our first insight into some of these unique and challenging views regarding our God.
May you find his writings to be enlightening, challenging, and thought provoking.
