One may wonder what my purpose might be in writing the things in this book. During my years on this earth, I have met many who have decided that there is no God; or if there is then He is ruthless, uncaring and aloof. Others, while still believing that God exists cannot understand how or why He does or allows some of the things witnessed by history, or in their personal lives. I, myself have wondered since childhood about our God. As a preschooler sitting with my parents in the pews at Epworth Methodist Church in Lima, Ohio I often found myself staring into the louvers of the janitor's closet near our seat and wondering: “Is that where they keep God?” “I wonder what He's like.” “Will they ever let us see Him?”

There may be many things which we cannot know about God, but there are also many things about Him which we can know. Who He is, what He desires, His motivations, His purposes, and even His emotions are all things which can be discovered regarding this God who is

worshiped, misunderstood, reviled, or rejected by humans on earth. My purpose here is simply to illuminate many of the things of God which believers and non-believers alike should not ignore.
